Officials say no taxpayer money given to Sears Canada
The provincial government says no taxpayer money has been given to Sears Canada.
The company announced on Tuesday that it is going out of business.
In January, the government announced it would provide Sears with up to $8.7 million to help open call centres in Saint John and Edmunston.
Officials with Opportunities New Brunswick say no money was advanced to the company and there are no plans to do so now.
More than 200 people work at the call centre in Saint John and 160 in Edmunston.
