Oil carrier runs aground in Belledune

October 12, 2017

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating after a bulk carrier ran aground in Belledune yesterday morning.

The vessel was carrying 65,000 metric tonnes of a coal-like material produced during the oil refining process.

It appears to have ran aground at the entrance to the village at around 8 am.

No injuries were reported and the hull was not breached, so there is no fear of pollution.
