Bail granted for 17-year-old arrested after shooting incident
A 17-year-old boy arrested after a shooting incident last week, has been released on bail.
The Miramichi Police Force was called to a home on Water Street late Friday night in response to a 911 call about a 15-year-old boy suffering from a serious injury.
When police arrived, they discovered that the boy was suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the Miramichi Regional Hospital for treatment.
The 17-year-old boy, along with a 17-year-old girl, were arrested at the scene.
The girl was later released.
The 17-year-old boy, whose identity is protected under the Young Offenders Act, was granted bail after a court appearance on Tuesday.
Evidence presented at that hearing is subject to a court ordered publication ban.
The boy returns to court on Oct. 20 to enter a plea.
