The Northeast District RCMP have charged a 45-year-old man from Barryville, following an incident involving weapons.
On July 4, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police responded to a call of a man brandishing two knives who later made threats against police. Police located the man near a wooded area off of Route 11 in Barryville. Traffic was blocked in both directions while police negotiated with the man and eventually he was taken into custody. The man was taken to the hospital. He was treated by medical staff and released back into police custody.
Dale Joseph Anderson appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on July 5, 2018, and was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, causing a disturbance, assault with a weapon and uttering threats. The judge ordered a 30 day psychiatric evaluation. Dale Joseph Anderson will appear in court again on August 7, 2018, for a bail hearing.
