Parking lot proposed for area near pay centre
The city is taking steps to help alleviate some of the parking woes at the public service pay centre in Chatham.
There are more than 600 employees at the facility, but only 298 parking spaces and those were awarded to employees through a lottery.
City Council voted earlier this week on a proposed bylaw change to allow for the development of a parking lot in the area of the pay centre..
The Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home had requested the change to allow for a 105 space paid parking lot on a piece of property they own on Victoria Avenue.
The proposal has cleared the first hurdle.
The next step is a public presentation by Greater Miramichi Regional Service Commission.
